Consequences for Academic Dishonesty

First Offense:

1. An "F (no credit)" on the assignment/essay/exam, etc.
2. Referral to the office for assignment of ATS
3. Teacher notifies parent/guardian
4. Student ineligible for NHS membership for one semester.
5. "U" for Citizenship for that Quarter (and comment "caught cheating" in the report card.)

Second Offense:

1. An "F (no credit)" on the assignment/essay/exam, etc.
2. Student ineligible for CSF membership for one semester.
3. Student permanently ineligible for NHS membership.
4. Student barred from internet use at school for rest of school year.
5. Student ineligible to earn extra credit points in the course.
6. Student referred to the office for 1-day suspension.
7. Grade-level administrator calls parent.
8."U" for Citizenship for that Quarter (and comment "caught cheating" in the report card.)

Third offense:

1. Student receives semester grade of F in course.
2. Student permanently ineligible for CSF membership.
3. Student placed on behavior contract.
4. Student permanently ineligible for receive school-based scholarships or awards
5. Student permanently barred from internet use at school.
6. Student ineligible to receive letters of recommendation for jobs, scholarships, or colleges
7. Student referred to office for 2-day suspension.
8. Principal calls parent.
9. "U" for Citizenship for that Quarter (and comment "caught cheating" in the report card.)

Note: On the first offense, if the administrator feels it is appropriate, the consequences may begin at any step.
