Glendale High School Water Polo
TEAM POLICIES:
Behavior:
Players who disrupt practice or games with inappropriate behavior or language are subject to dismissal from the
team.
We expect Glendale High water polo players to be standouts in the classroom as well as the pool. Players who get
unsatisfactory marks for academics or citizenship or get referrals for behavior problems in the classroom will
be disciplined
Attendance: Once the season begins...
Varsity practices- Players will be in the water
at 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday ready to begin the workout. There may be Saturday practices TBA.
Junior Varsity/Novice practices- Players will
be in the water at 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday ready to begin the workout. There may be Saturday practices
TBA.
English-only:
When on the pool deck, at practices, games,
team meetings or on the way to and from team contests on the bus, players will speak English only.
Jobs:
Water polo is a full time activity. Players who have jobs during the season will find that it is nearly impossible
to make all of the mandated workouts.
Not Shaving:
Not shaving is a way of life in aquatic sports.
Players may not shave for most of the season and then for special games, team members are expected to shave their
arms, legs and torso (as they would for a championship swimming competition) after that extended period of letting
their hair grow. You will know by November if the team is going to let their hair grow and then shave for a game
during the season.
Driving:
Once the season starts in December, driving a private car to a GHS game is not allowed unless a note from
a parent or guardian is on file with the athletic directors office. Your parent may drive you home from a game.
Morning Workouts:
It is typical for water polo teams to conduct morning workouts during the season. It is yet to be determined the
times and dates of our morning practices.
