Glendale High School Water Polo
Hall of Fame
ARTHUR BAGUMYAN, class of 2004

Gary Nelson Memorial Award
Arthur Bagumyan
may be Glendale High's most improved player ever. Having no aquatics experience at all, he started out on the novice
team as a 9th grader, then as a 10th grader was the MVP of the JV team as its goalie. He moved to the field as
a junior and played a key role in the Nitros' 2002 Pacific League championship team as a defensive specialist.
His senior season was a stellar one. He was the team's top gun scoring 95 goals and along with standout holeset
Martin Galstyan helped GHS into the Pacific League championship game. There the Nitros lost a heartbreaker to CV
in overtime. Bagumyan scored 6 goals in the first round of the CIF playoffs against 6th-ranked Temple City. His
honors include being named second team All-CIF along with being named to the first team all-area and all-league
teams. He was the winner of GHS's prestigious Gary Nelson Most Inspirational award.
