Gaming Li Introduction by Christine Thang
Hi, my name is Christine Thang, and I am here to speak on behalf of my friend, the always-smiling PNMA finalist, Gaming Li.
I can’t say that I have known Gaming all my life, but for the six years that I have, not a single day goes by without a friendly smile or a genuine greeting from him.
Gaming encompasses the Pat Navolanic spirit that makes him the embodiment of academic excellence, community service, leadership, and athleticism.
Even in junior high, where grades were merely a stepping-stone to move from one grade level to the next, Gaming strived to do his very best.
As a freshman, Gaming joined ASB ready to spread his spirit and enthusiasm, bypassing that awkward transition stage as an underclassman. Voted “Friendliest,” “Most Likely to Succeed,” and “Most Spirited,” Gaming lives and breathes the true high school experience.
I can tell you that Gaming stands along side these other finalists for the same reasons that he has a high GPA, numerous volunteer hours, a laundry list of clubs, and is an amazing athlete, but there is so much more to Gaming than what meets the eye. Take away his grades, and Gaming is still a success; forget about his hours of community service, and Gaming is still compassionate; take away running and pole-vaulting, and he’s still driven and determined. No matter what, Gaming is what he is… a great person. You can’t help but smile around him.
Leading 600 students on their path to graduation is a feat in it of itself, and yet Gaming has been able to do so while maintaining his self-composure and being true to himself.
I am glad to join Gaming next year at UCLA. When we’re doing the eight-clap together next year, Gaming, you just remember the times when you led the entire senior class in the yell-off’s. There is no end to the success you’ll attain in the future so rather than wish you luck that you don’t need, I’ll ask you to cherish this moment because it is truly all for you. We are all so proud of you, Gaming.
Will Gaming and his family please join me on stage?
