Henrietta Movsessian introduction by Jennifer Movsessian

Hi, my name is Jennifer Movsessian and I have the pleasure of speaking on behalf of my sister, role model, and best friend Henrietta Movsessian.

Henrietta was born a leader. Starting at a young age Henrietta was always everywhere. She would go from gymnastics to dance class and then to swim. Always getting the team to follow her as she led these practices. Now she holds the most important job any high school student can have. Serving on the Glendale Unified School District Board, Henrietta voices the opinions of the 27,000 students in our district.

My sister has always worked hard to make a difference in our community and in the lives of many of you sitting here today. Whether you know Henrietta personally or from a distance, there is no denying that this 18-year-old has come a long way. Who would have thought that the little girl who was afraid to walk the halls of our house in the dark would be standing here before us with so many activities and spectacular accomplishments?

Every Friday Henrietta volunteers at a school where she inspires young students. On Sundays, Henrietta inspires Sunday school children with her knowledge and comforting personality. In spite of her busy schedule, Henrietta has surprisingly completed over 1,500 hours of community service.

She inspired the younger students at GHS when she served as ASB president her junior year. She proved anyone can do anything they set their minds to. Not only is Henrietta a part of organizations like NHS, GATE, Student Senate, and Yearbook she is also a member of two varsity sports teams. Remarkably, she manages to take 5 mile “fun runs” or race in the heat of a beautiful spring day without ever throwing in the towel.

My sister's ability to maintain a 4.056 GPA while juggling an ever growing list of leadership positions has made her the shining star that everyone knows and loves. I know that she will continue to shine her light wherever she goes, and UC San Diego has yet to discover the treasure that has been enrolled for the fall semester.

Students come and go, but Henrietta is one of those students that has left an enduring mark on GHS. It is very difficult to follow in your footsteps; yet, there is no other path I’d rather take.

To inspire others, one needs courage, confidence, perseverance, hard work, and dedication. Henrietta, you possess all of these strengths. Thank you for sharing your many gifts with us.
