Gervea Ornopia introduction by Amy Bishop
Hi my name is Amy Bishop and I am here to speak on behalf of my best friend Gervea LeAnne Ornopia.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Gervea since the first grade. Even then, Gervea was known as the “nice one.” Eleven years later, she is still the nicest girl I know, but she has grown to become so much more than that. At the end of high school, Gervea has managed to partake and succeed in pretty much every activity on campus. With a GPA of 3.92 and a spot in the National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation, Gervea has proven herself to be a scholar. Then there’s ASB. She has led the Class of 2008 all of her 4 years here, starting with Vice President and then leading for 3 years as one of the most enthusiastic presidents this school has ever seen.
But if that’s not enough for you, consider the many ours after school that she spent sweating on the soccer field, serving as co-captain of the varsity team for a year. Gervea is involved in so many activities at school that GHS has become her second home. But even outside of school, Gervea is juggling choir practices for church and hundreds of volunteer hours at the hospital. But what draws people to Gervea is not her extensive resume. It’s her character that makes me want to spend every spare moment of my time with her. Gervea’s positive energy is contagious. I just can’t help but smile when I see her at lunch and she greets me with a smile bigger than her whole body and she says “How are you baby?” while giving me a gigantic hug. She’s always taking care of others before herself. Everyone has that friend that they can go to if they need help with something. But Gervea is not that kind of friend. Gervea is the kind of friend that you go to with a problem and she tells you “Don’t worry. I’ve already taken care of it.”
Gervea, I think you underestimate just how much everyone admires you. You are truly an amazing person and you have positively impacted all those around you.
