Katie Schowengerdt introduction by Jackie Harms
Hello, my name is Jackie Harms, and I’m speaking on behalf of Katie Schowengerdt – a daughter, a sister, a friend, and most importantly, an amazing person.
Katie and I met a Wilson Middle School, and although there was no definitive start to our friendship, there's been a definite lasting bond. Despite us crashing out on the couch every weekend and practically living at Six Flags, Katie has still managed to maintain a high GPA of 4.125 and juggle numerous AP courses.
In Katie, I have seen a drive unlike any other to support her friends, school and community through activities ranging from volunteer work at a local elementary school to applying make up on dads for a school fundraiser. Her undeniable dedication exists not only for her community, but also for her volleyball team.
Katie has been a member of the JV girls’ volleyball team for two years and a member of the varsity team for her junior and senior years. Over these four years, Katie has taken the time to improve her skills as both a member and a leader. She has become captain of the varsity girls’ volleyball team.
Katie, you have been the best friend that anybody could ever hope to have, and I have no doubt that you will succeed in whatever it is that you choose to do, even if you are going to UCLA. I'm proud of you friend.
