Milagros Villalobos Introduction by Christina Der Sarkissian

My name is Christina Der Sarkissian and I’m here to speak on behalf of my friend Milagros Villalobos.

Throughout my years of knowing Milagros, I have never experienced a dull moment, spent five minutes without bursting into laughter, or a day without an adventure, a spur of the moment decision that would end up a memory forever.

I have had the pleasure of hurdling with Milagros for a couple years now. Every day we would question ourselves, why are we here? Why do we enjoy jumping over heavy metal objects that threaten us and make us feel weak and inferior? Then I realize that it has a lot to do with character. Milagros is the type of person who will do things just to redefine the impossible. She will attempt challenges to conquer not only the task, but to satisfy her inner strive. Each hurdle cleared, is an obstacle in life solved. If she happens to fall, she will get back up and finish the race; that’s the type of person she is.

While maintaining a 4.38 GPA and ranked 3rd in the class, Milagros is president of Future Leaders of America, co-president of National Honor Society, president of Gate Advisory, and co-founder of Darfur Action Committee. She is also actively involved in senior class council, Spanish club and Junior State of America. Milagros has run varsity Cross Country and Track and Field, setting the school record for the 4 by 800 meter relay. However, her involvement does not end at school. She is an animal activist and is politically active in abolishing the death penalty. She has volunteered in animal shelters and retirement homes, dedicating countless hours to helping others.

Milagros, thanks for all the laughs and good times, high school would never have been the same without you.

Will Milagros and her family please join me on stage?
