Nick Wagner introduction by Edwin Telemi

Hi, I’m Edwin Telemi, and I am here to speak on behalf of my friend Nick Wagner. Yes, he is the same Wagner you all have probably somehow heard of, but I’m not here today to tell you what a great student he is, because his 4.43 GPA speaks loud enough, or to tell you the list all of his sports accomplishments: Cross Country, Track and Tennis. Yeah, OK, he’s an athlete, we get it. I am here to tell you about a different side of Nick. One few people get to see.

I have known Wagner since the seventh grade and I can tell you that he is possibly the most unique character I will ever come across, but after all these years I still can’t figure out why that is. It could be his highly competitive nature, or his humble intelligence. It may be his occasionally hilarious comments, or his outright random questions. It could be those boring books I sometimes catch him reading under the table in math class. It might even have something to do with his great name – Nicholas James Wagner. But his awesome family probably has something to do with it. His sister Meg was a PNMA finalist her senior year, and his brother Will was the PNMA winner in 2003, and his mom and dad are pretty swell, too. Today is Nick’s sixth assembly, but he’s no longer the “little” brother they had to drag up on stage, nor a student in the audience. No, this morning Nick, you have earned all the praise and attention you are getting. You are the star.

I am sad to say that after high school we, like many friends here today, will be parting ways.

Wagner, this would be the perfect time for me to wish you the best of luck but I’m afraid you probably don’t need it. You have come far, and you have yet farther to go, but I know for a fact that you will be successful everywhere you apply yourself. We are all very proud of you, and we will miss you.
