Irreplaceable Memories
It was once said “Memories are the treasures that we keep locked deep within the storehouse of our souls, to keep our hearts warm when we are lonely.” In the four years of high school we have created such memories that will remain close to our hearts. I’ve been looking through many yearbooks. In each one there have been recollections of special times that students have shared. “Remember when you were drowning in the pool during P.E. and everyone thought you were joking, but I was the one who saved you”. The unforgettable moments we created in the Senior Glen, or the quad, the tables in front of J building or the cafeteria where we ate every day. I remember how we would stay up all night to finish a project and not go to class in the morning so we could get some sleep. The presidential project in government where we learned that bribing people with food every day will not win their vote. Or the infamous cat lab which was responsible for the horrible smell all through J Building but was fun because of the classmates we worked with. The senior luau: we came in street clothes not wanting to get wet in the cold weather and walked away drenched. The 100th oratorical- although we didn’t sweep it, we crushed the other grades with Jessica Guccione’s remarkable speech, our military discipline, and our unbeatable spirit. This very field where we graduate today has been home to numerous victories in track, lacrosse and other athletics.
Remember when we destroyed Hoover this year with a 55-7 victory and brought home the victory bell once again. I, for my part, remember how Edwin Telemi would make fun of me and would say that if anyone sat next to me their brain power would boost 20%, a remark that will forever make me laugh. When I was asked if the other Roza Petrosyan was my twin, I replied “I didn’t know twins could have the same name”. Or Nick Wagner who always managed to ask the most random questions.
Leafing through old yearbooks, I began to compare our middle school pictures to our senior portraits. Each one of us has become a unique individual and matured into a young adult. Remember those middle school wishes “Have a fun summer; I am so glad that we met, see you at GHS”. Then came 9th grade hurrying to class too shy to ask for directions, 10th grade taking harder classes, 11th grade starting to think about our future and finally 12th grade filled with college and financial aid applications. Now at this bittersweet moment the wishes in our new yearbooks extend to pages, creating snapshots of all our memories, telling our best friends that we are sad that they are moving away. It is said that “A good beginning makes a good end”. We have had a great beginning here at Glendale High School and now it is our responsibility to create the best ending possible.
Thank you to all the dedicated teachers and staff of GHS who have worked hard to make this our second home. Thank you Ms. Williams and Ms. Morrison for making your calculus classes a big math family and thank you Andrew, Annalou, Chris, Edwin, Greta, Hansol, Mitchell and Nick, aka the BC-9 for all the wonderful times; you are incredible. Thank you Ms. Ciotti and Mrs. Stafford for pushing us beyond our limits and helping us write our personal statements for college. I also want to thank Mr. Kolodinski and Mr. Bartosiak for inspiring me and motivating me to major in History. Thank you our advisors, Mr. Keefer and Ms. Peerali, for all you have done for us these past 4 years. Thank you counselors for guiding us through a difficult journey, and especially thank you to my counselor Mrs. Evans for always being there for me. Gohar, Shushan, Hasmik, Shahane and Edita-my closest friends. I love you all; you have filled a part of my life. To my parents, you have had the largest role in my success. Without your support I wouldn’t have gotten this far. Thank you, mom, for all your help and understanding, and thank you, dad, for your sense of humor when I was feeling stressed. Eliza, my sister, I love you.
Congratulations class of 200 and 9. We have made it!!! Now let’s celebrate!!!! God bless!
