"Building a Better School Community TOGETHER”
Over 100 YEARS of service to our GHS students, staff & families
Dear Glendale High Families,
Welcome to the 2016 – 2017 school year! My name is Betty Fritz and I am honored to represent Glendale High School and its Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) for this upcoming school year, serving as your President. Through our three children, my husband and I have been involved with the Glendale Unified School District since 1999 and last year I served as the PTSA President at Wilson Middle School.
My youngest daughter Jamie is an incoming freshman and brings me back to the Glendale High Family after a single gap year. My two sons have already graduated from Glendale High School: Trevor is a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from UCSB and Garrett is a sophomore studying Industrial Design at Georgia Tech. My husband and I are thankful and proud of the programs and educational opportunities offered through Glendale Unified. As you can imagine, we have experienced many school events, educational programs, schooling trends etc. over the many years!
I promise you that our PTSA team will make every attempt to keep you informed of ALL upcoming events at Glendale High, as well as everything the PTSA has to offer you and your student; either by email, “all-call”, the school’s website: or through our brand new PTSA Nitro Newsflash E-blast (email to sign up to receive it). You can even join our Glendale High School PTSA Facebook page.
You may have noticed that our PTSA theme this year is “Building a Better School Community TOGETHER.” I have learned over the years that education is NOT a SOLO venture. It takes teamwork in order to successfully launch each child into adulthood. Being involved with your child’s education will be rewarding and fulfilling teach of you as parents, plus YOU will also benefit from the resulting camaraderie and support of other parents, teachers and community members. With that being said, I welcome all of you to join our wonderful PTSA for $10 per adult, or $6 for students. You can join by either filling out the GHS PTSA membership envelope
available in the school office, or at school events such as July schedule pick up, freshman orientation, and August 18’s Back to School Night. Or simply fill out the cut-off form below and place in a sealed envelope addressed to GHS PTSA with check or cash, and drop off in main front office reception with Anjel Besha.
Not sure you want to join? Worried about having to attend meetings or getting roped into volunteering? Rest assured, you are always welcome to attend meetings and help at various events, but it isn’t mandatory. In my humble opinion, the friendship and support that come from volunteering make it worth the time and effort, but if that’s not doable for you, no worries! We are just glad that you are part of the Glendale High community. You might be asking yourself, if I don’t need to do anything, then why the heck should my family join the
Glendale High PTSA? The answer is simple: there is strength in numbers. Glendale High PTSA is a unit of the California State PTA and the National PTA, which advocate for and publicly recommend and support issues that involve the safety and welfare of children and families. The more members we have, the stronger our voice!
Please consider helping us in our mission to “Build a better school community… TOGETHER” by joining
our PTSA.
Looking forward to a great year together!!
Betty Fritz
